Shortcodes

Updated October 24, 2026

Place TierMint buy buttons, product grids, pricing tables, the cart, checkout and account pages with shortcodes, and look up every attribute.

Shortcode tags

Every TierMint component has a shortcode: tiermint_ followed by the component name, with underscores. Three of them also have a shorter alias that works the same way.

Shortcode Alias What it shows
[tiermint_buy_button] [tiermint_buy] A button that adds one pricing tier of a product to the cart.
[tiermint_product_grid] Cards for your published products, with an optional filter bar.
[tiermint_pricing_table] [tiermint_pricing] One column per product, each with its own buy button.
[tiermint_cart_summary] The cart lines and total, with a link to checkout.
[tiermint_checkout] The checkout: order summary, buyer details and payment.
[tiermint_login_form] [tiermint_login] A sign-in form, or a greeting and log-out link for a signed-in visitor.
[tiermint_registration_form] A sign-up form. The customer sets a password from an emailed link.
[tiermint_password_reset_form] The lost-password request and the set-new-password form.
[tiermint_account_dashboard] The customer account area with Purchases, Downloads and Licenses tabs.
[tiermint_license_manager] The signed-in customer's licenses and site activations.
[tiermint_downloads_list] The signed-in customer's purchased files and available updates.
[tiermint_purchase_confirmation] The receipt after checkout.

Eight more shortcodes build a product page. Product page shortcodes lists them.

Each shortcode has a matching block with the same settings. The blocks and patterns page covers the blocks.

How attribute values are read

  • Booleans take true or false, yes or no, 1 or 0, and on or off, in any case. An empty value counts as false. Any other spelling keeps the default.
  • Lists take values separated by commas, such as product_ids="12,14,19" or category="plugins, themes". Spaces around each value are trimmed and empty values are dropped. A list of ids drops anything that is not a number.
  • A choice, such as columns or order, must match one of the listed values exactly, including case. Any other value keeps the default, so order="asc" gives DESC.
  • A number attribute keeps its default if the value is not a number.
  • TierMint ignores attributes it does not know. A misspelled attribute gives you the default of the one you meant.

A product's id is the number at the end of its edit address in TierMint → Products, such as #/products/12. Tier ids do not show in the admin. The REST route GET /wp-json/tiermint/v1/products/{id} lists them under prices, but it needs the manage_tiermint capability, which administrators have. A browser visit to the address fails with a 401, because it carries no REST nonce. Open a wp-admin page and run wp.apiFetch( { path: '/tiermint/v1/products/12' } ) in the browser console, or call the route with an Application Password.

Selling shortcodes

[tiermint_buy_button] and [tiermint_buy]

A button that adds one pricing tier of a product to the cart. It adds the tier's minimum quantity. When the product or tier cannot be bought, the shortcode shows nothing.

Attribute Default What it does
product_id 0 Required. The product to sell. With 0, or a product that is missing or not published, nothing shows.
price_id 0 The tier to sell. 0 sells the product's default tier, the first active tier in its list. A tier from another product or an archived tier shows nothing.
label Buy now The button text.
show_price true Shows the tier's price on the button.
[tiermint_buy product_id="12"]
[tiermint_buy product_id="12" price_id="34" label="Get the 5-site license" show_price="false"]

[tiermint_product_grid]

Cards for your published products. Each card shows the product image, name, overview (or its description when there is no overview) and the price of its default tier, with a buy button for that tier.

Attribute Default What it does
category empty Category slugs to show. Empty shows every category.
tag empty Tag slugs to show. Empty shows every tag.
include_children true Also shows products filed under subcategories of the chosen categories.
show_filters false Shows a filter bar with a category list and tag checkboxes.
columns 3 Cards per row on wide screens: 2, 3 or 4.
per_page 9 The most products the grid shows, at most 100. A value below 1 shows 10. The grid has no further pages.
orderby created_at Sorts by created_at, name or id.
order DESC The sort direction: DESC or ASC.
show_price true Shows each product's price.
show_buy_button the store setting Shows an add-to-cart button on each card. The default comes from Show buy buttons in the product grid under TierMint → Settings → General.
show_thumbnails true Shows each product's thumbnail, or its main image when it has no thumbnail. Without an image, or with this off, the card shows a tile with the product's first letter.
link_to_details true Links each card to its product details page.
[tiermint_product_grid category="plugins" columns="4" per_page="12"]
[tiermint_product_grid show_filters="true" orderby="name" order="ASC"]

The filter bar reads its choice from the page address: tiermint_category takes one category slug and tiermint_tag takes one or more tag slugs. So a filtered grid has an address you can share. These parameters filter the grid even when the bar is hidden, which is how category and tag links on a product page work.

When you set category or tag, the grid shows only that set, and a visitor can narrow it but never widen it. A visitor choice outside your set is ignored and your set stays. A slug that matches no category or tag shows no products, not the whole catalog.

The store page with a category filter and tag checkboxes above the product cards for the Plugins category

[tiermint_pricing_table] and [tiermint_pricing]

One column for each product you list, in your order. Each column shows the product name, the price and name of its default tier, the tier's license length and activation limit, the product description, a feature list and a buy button. A product that is missing, not published or has no tier to sell is left out. When none of the products can be shown, the shortcode shows nothing.

Attribute Default What it does
product_ids empty Required. The product ids to show as columns, in order.
highlight_id 0 The product id to mark "Most popular". 0 marks none.
show_features true Shows the feature list stored as features in the product's settings. The product editor has no field for this list. The column always shows the product description, so a bullet list in the description shows either way.
columns 3 Columns on wide screens: 2, 3 or 4.
button_text Buy now The text on every buy button.
show_license_length true Shows each plan's license length, such as "1-year license".
show_activation_limit true Shows how many sites each plan can activate.

Subscription plans are a TierMint Pro feature. Pro adds the billing line and the free-trial line to a recurring plan, and no attribute hides them. See Subscriptions.

[tiermint_pricing product_ids="12,14,19" highlight_id="14"]
[tiermint_pricing product_ids="12,14" show_features="false" button_text="Choose this plan"]

A pricing table with three products, one marked Most popular

[tiermint_cart_summary]

The visitor's cart: a table of products with their tier, quantity, price and subtotal, a discount line for an applied code or an automatic discount, the total and a Proceed to checkout button. An empty cart shows "Your cart is empty."

The last row reads "Total". Developers can rename it with the tiermint_cart_summary_total_label filter, for example to "Total due". With tax-inclusive pricing in TierMint Pro, it reads "Subtotal (incl. tax)".

Attribute Default What it does
show_actions true Shows a quantity box with an Update button, and a Remove button, on each line.
checkout_page 0 The page id the checkout button links to. 0 uses the Checkout page setting.
title Your cart The heading. title="" hides it.
show_plan_details true Shows each line's license length and activation limit under the product name. With TierMint Pro, a recurring line also shows its billing.
[tiermint_cart_summary]
[tiermint_cart_summary show_actions="false" title="Order summary"]

The Proceed to checkout button shows only when the cart has items and a checkout page is set, through checkout_page or the site setting. Set the checkout page explains the setting.

The cart summary table with two items, their quantity, price and subtotal, Update and Remove buttons, and the total

[tiermint_checkout]

The checkout: the order summary, the buyer's details, a discount code field and the payment form.

Attribute Default What it does
title Checkout The heading. An empty value hides it.
button_text Pay now The payment button text.
show_summary true Shows the order summary beside the form.
editable_summary true Lets buyers change quantities and remove lines in the order summary.
show_plan_details true Shows each line's license length and activation limit in the summary. With TierMint Pro, a recurring line also shows its billing.
show_discount true Shows the Discount code field.
layout two-column two-column puts the form beside a sticky summary where there is room. single stacks everything in one column.
[tiermint_checkout]
[tiermint_checkout title="Complete your order" button_text="Pay securely"]
[tiermint_checkout show_discount="false" layout="single"]

What the checkout shows depends on the cart and the address:

  • With an empty cart, it shows "Your cart is empty."
  • When no payment method is set up, it shows "Checkout is not available right now. Please try again later." An administrator also sees a reminder to add Stripe keys. The Stripe payments page explains how.
  • A link with ?tiermint_renew= followed by a license key shows a banner that names the product: "You are buying a new license for Orbit Forms. It comes with a new license key." Its Add it to the cart button adds a new license to the cart. The free plugin does not extend the old license. The new license uses the old license's tier, or the product's default tier when that one is no longer for sale. A key that matches no license, or a license whose product is not published, shows no banner.
  • After payment, Stripe returns the buyer to the checkout page with ?tiermint_order= and the order code (a 36-character UUID, not the numeric order id). The checkout then shows "Thank you for your purchase!" while it confirms the payment.

The checkout page guide covers the billing fields, accounts at checkout and the discount field. The discount codes page explains codes.

Account and login shortcodes

[tiermint_login_form] and [tiermint_login]

WordPress's sign-in form with a Lost your password? link. A signed-in visitor sees "Logged in as" their name, a Your account link and a Log out link.

Attribute Default What it does
redirect empty Where to send the visitor after signing in or out. When empty, a visitor who signs in goes back to the page that sent them to sign in, or else to the account page. A visitor who logs out stays on the same page.
show_register true Shows a Create an account link when WordPress registration is open, or when register_url is set.
register_url empty A registration page for the Create an account link. When set, the link shows even if WordPress registration is closed.
[tiermint_login]
[tiermint_login redirect="/my-account/" show_register="false"]

[tiermint_registration_form]

Attribute Default What it does
show_name true Shows an optional name field next to the email field.
login_url empty Where the "Already have an account? Sign in" link points. Empty uses the sign-in page.

[tiermint_password_reset_form]

Attribute Default What it does
login_url empty Where the sign-in links point. Empty uses the sign-in page, then the WordPress login screen.

The customer accounts and login page explains how the three forms behave.

[tiermint_account_dashboard]

The account area. The Purchases tab lists the customer's orders. The Downloads and Licenses tabs show the same content as [tiermint_downloads_list] and [tiermint_license_manager].

Attribute Default What it does
title My account The heading. An empty value hides it.
show_purchases true Shows the Purchases tab.
show_downloads true Shows the Downloads tab.
show_licenses true Shows the Licenses tab.
[tiermint_account_dashboard]
[tiermint_account_dashboard show_downloads="false"]

[tiermint_license_manager]

Attribute Default What it does
title Your licenses The heading. An empty value hides it.
show_key true Shows the full license key on each card.
show_activations true Shows the list of active sites and the activate and deactivate controls.
[tiermint_license_manager show_key="false" title="My licenses"]

[tiermint_downloads_list]

Attribute Default What it does
title Your downloads The heading. The list hides it when you leave it empty.
show_updates true Shows the Updates section with the latest version of each licensed product.
[tiermint_downloads_list show_updates="false" title="My files"]

[tiermint_purchase_confirmation]

The receipt. It shows something only when the page address has ?tiermint_order= with a valid order code (a 36-character UUID). A numeric order id does not work. Payment adds it when Stripe returns the buyer to the checkout page, so place this shortcode on your checkout page, above the checkout.

Attribute Default What it does
title Thank you for your purchase The heading. An empty value hides it.
show_licenses true Lists the license keys the order created.
show_downloads true Lists download links for the order's files.
[tiermint_purchase_confirmation show_licenses="false" show_downloads="false"]

The customer dashboard page explains what each account shortcode shows, including signed-out visitors and the receipt.

Product page shortcodes

These shortcodes show parts of a product. Each takes product_id. Left at 0, it shows the product the product details page was opened on.

Shortcode Other attributes
[tiermint_product_details] layout (two-column or single), show_license_length, show_activation_limit
[tiermint_product_images] none
[tiermint_product_overview] none
[tiermint_product_pricing_tiers] show_license_length, show_activation_limit
[tiermint_product_description] none
[tiermint_product_screenshots] none
[tiermint_product_meta] show_categories, show_tags, show_version, show_updated
[tiermint_product_changelog] releases (0 shows the full history, up to 20), show_version_heading, show_dates, show_compatibility

Every toggle in this table defaults to true. The product details page explains these components.

[tiermint_product_pricing_tiers product_id="12"]
[tiermint_product_changelog product_id="12" releases="3"]

How the cart forms work

The Buy Button, Pricing Table, Product Grid and product page buy forms are plain HTML forms. TierMint handles the submit on the server and sends the visitor back to the page. The cart summary's Update and Remove buttons work the same way. None of them needs JavaScript.

After an item is added, the After adding to the cart setting under TierMint → Settings → General decides what happens:

Option Result
Stay on the page and show a confirmation (default) The page shows "Added to your cart." with a Go to checkout link.
Go straight to the checkout page The visitor goes to the checkout page.

When a cart change fails, TierMint adds tiermint_cart_error to the page address, and the buy forms, the cart summary and the checkout show a message:

Value Message
invalid That item could not be added to the cart.
failed Something went wrong updating your cart. Please try again.

Every cart form carries a WordPress security token. When the token is missing or has expired, TierMint ignores the submit and the page loads as normal, with no error. This can happen on a page served from a cache long after it was built.

What needs JavaScript

Browsing products, filtering the grid, changing the cart, signing in, registering, resetting a password and viewing licenses and downloads all work without JavaScript.

These parts need it:

  • Paying. The card fields come from Stripe's own script, so card details never reach your server. Without JavaScript the checkout shows "JavaScript is required to complete your payment securely. Please enable it and reload this page."
  • Activating and deactivating sites in the license manager. Without JavaScript it shows a notice, and keys, status and expiry still show.
  • The receipt's automatic refresh while a payment is confirmed. Without JavaScript the buyer is asked to refresh the page.
  • The account dashboard tabs. Without JavaScript all panels show one below the other.

Set the checkout page

TierMint creates a Checkout page when you activate it and selects it in its settings. To use another page:

  1. Add the Checkout block or [tiermint_checkout] to a page. Add [tiermint_purchase_confirmation] above it so buyers see their receipt after paying.
  2. Publish the page.
  3. Open TierMint → Settings → General.
  4. Under Pages, pick the page in Checkout page.
  5. Click Save changes.

The cart summary's checkout button, the Go to checkout link and renewal links use this page. A single cart summary can link elsewhere with its checkout_page attribute. The storefront pages guide covers the other page settings.

Common questions

Why does a shortcode show nothing?

Most often the product cannot be bought. [tiermint_buy] and [tiermint_pricing] show nothing when the product is not published or has no active tier, or when price_id names an archived tier or a tier from another product. Check the product's status and its tiers. [tiermint_purchase_confirmation] is empty on purpose until a buyer returns from payment.

I clicked Buy now and nothing was added. What happened?

Look for a message on the page, or for tiermint_cart_error in the address. How the cart forms work lists the messages. If there is no message, the form's security token had probably expired, for example on a cached page. Reload the page and try again.

Why is there no Proceed to checkout button?

The cart is empty, or no checkout page is set. Pick one in Checkout page under TierMint → Settings → General, or set checkout_page on the cart summary.

Why does checkout say it is not available?

No payment method is set up. Add your Stripe keys as the Stripe payments page explains.

Can I mix the alias and the full tag?

Yes. [tiermint_buy] and [tiermint_buy_button] are the same shortcode under two tags. Use either one, on any page.
