Store settings

Updated October 24, 2026

Find every TierMint setting, see who can change it, and learn how saved secrets such as your Stripe keys are stored and shown.

Open the settings

Go to TierMint → Settings. The menu item shows only to users with the manage_tiermint_settings capability. Staff without it see the rest of the TierMint menu but no Settings item.

The TierMint menu in the wp-admin sidebar with its submenu items and Settings selected

The settings are split into tabs: General, Appearance, Emails, Payments, Discounts, Webhooks and Integrations. Each tab has its own address, so you can bookmark it or link to it. For example, admin.php?page=tiermint#/settings/payments opens the Payments tab.

TierMint Pro adds the License, Tax, Invoices, Recovery and Affiliates tabs, and a PayPal sub-tab under Payments. The Tax, Invoices, Recovery and Affiliates tabs and the PayPal sub-tab each have their own Save button. Save changes does not save them. The License tab works through its Activate, Recheck now and Deactivate buttons. While Pro is not active, a TierMint Pro tab lists what Pro adds.

Save your changes

A change you make on a free tab waits until you save it. The webhook endpoints are the exception: adding, switching off or deleting one takes effect at once. Switching between the free tabs keeps your changes, and Save changes saves the changes from every free tab at once. The button stays disabled until something has changed. After a save, the screen shows "Settings saved."

If you try to leave the Settings screen with unsaved changes on a free tab, TierMint asks you to confirm first.

On the Tax, Invoices, Recovery and Affiliates tabs and the PayPal sub-tab, click Save before you leave the tab. Switching tabs or leaving the screen drops their unsaved changes without asking.

Who can use each screen

TierMint uses three capabilities, so you can split day-to-day store work from configuration and reporting:

Capability What it allows
manage_tiermint Day-to-day store work: the Dashboard, products, categories and tags, releases, orders, customers, licenses and discounts.
manage_tiermint_settings The Settings screen, including the Stripe keys and the webhook endpoints.
view_tiermint_reports The Reports screen, read only. It allows nothing else.

Administrators get all three. TierMint adds them on activation, and adds them back on each page load if the administrator role lost one, for example through a role editor plugin.

To give another role some of these capabilities, use a role editor plugin or WP-CLI. The three are independent. For example, a bookkeeper can have only view_tiermint_reports, and a store manager can have manage_tiermint without access to your Stripe keys. This command lets editors run the store:

wp cap add editor manage_tiermint

General tab

The General tab has five groups: Store, Pages, Front end, Checkout and Advanced.

Store

Setting Default What it does
Store currency USD The currency for all prices. Pick it from the list, or type a name or code such as "Euro" or "EUR" to filter it. Each currency carries its own number of decimal places, so a zero-decimal currency such as the Japanese yen works correctly. Currencies with three decimal places are not offered. Developers can add a currency with the tiermint_currencies filter.

Set the currency before you add products. Prices are stored in the currency's smallest unit, such as cents, and changing the currency later does not convert them.

Pages

One picker for each storefront page: Store page, Product details page, Checkout page, Account page, Sign-in page, Registration page, Password reset page, Terms page and Privacy policy page. TierMint creates and selects most of these pages on activation. Use your own pages describes each picker and what happens when a page is not published.

The Pages settings with a page picker for each storefront, account, terms and privacy page

Front end

Setting Default What it does
Hide the admin toolbar for customers Off Hides the WordPress toolbar on the front end for signed-in users who cannot edit posts. See Hide the admin toolbar for customers.
Use the sign-in page instead of wp-login Off Sends front-end sign-in and password reset requests to your own pages instead of wp-login.php, and points the reset link in every WordPress password email to your reset page. It needs the pages to be published. Logout, confirmations and admin logins keep working, and wp-login.php?tiermint_wp_login=1 always shows the WordPress screen. See Customer accounts and login.
Show buy buttons in the product grid On The store-wide default for the add-to-cart button on product grid cards. Turn it off to make the grid browse only, so shoppers buy from the product details page. A grid block or shortcode can override it.
After adding to the cart Stay on the page and show a confirmation Stay on the page and show a confirmation keeps the shopper on the page and shows "Added to your cart." with a Go to checkout link. Go straight to the checkout page takes them to checkout. With no checkout page set, the shopper stays on the page.
Product page heading Show the product name in the block Where the product name shows as the heading on the product details page. See Choose how the product page shows its heading.

Checkout

These settings change the checkout form. Checkout and billing fields shows each field in place.

Setting Default What it does
Require terms acceptance at checkout Off Shows a checkbox the buyer must tick to accept your terms and privacy policy before paying.
Collect a billing country Off Asks the buyer for their country. An extension can collect it while this is off, such as tax calculation in TierMint Pro taxes. The help text under this setting says so while it does.
Collect a VAT or tax ID Off Asks the buyer for a VAT, GST or tax registration number. An extension can collect it while this is off, as TierMint Pro taxes does. The help text says so while it does.
Collect a billing address Do not collect an address Choose Do not collect an address, Collect an optional address or Require an address. With TierMint Pro, the invoice option "Show the buyer's billing address on invoices" can require the address. The help text under this setting says so while it does.
Show a login panel at checkout On Lets existing customers log in on the checkout page before they pay.
Create an account for guests Off When a guest completes a purchase, TierMint creates a WordPress account for them, or links the order to an account that already uses their email. Their orders and licenses then show in the account area. They set a password from a link sent by email.
Allow guest checkout On Lets buyers check out without an account. Turn it off to require an account, through login, Create an account for guests or a registration page. With neither of the last two, only existing users can buy.
Require a first name at checkout Off Makes the first name field required. When off, the field shows but is optional.
Require a last name at checkout Off Makes the last name field required. When off, the field shows but is optional.
Offer a company purchase option On Shows an "I am buying as a company" checkbox that reveals a company name field and the tax ID field. Turn it off to show the tax ID field on its own.

Advanced

Setting Default What it does
Delete all data on uninstall Off When on, deleting the plugin removes every TierMint table, option, capability and stored package file. TierMint Pro reads the same setting when you delete it. Leave it off to keep customer and license data. See Deactivate or delete TierMint.

Appearance tab

These settings style every TierMint storefront component. Click a color to open a color picker, and click Clear in the picker to go back to the default. Styling and template overrides covers more ways to style the storefront.

Setting Default What it does
Primary color #2563eb The main accent for buttons, links and selected states. TierMint derives the hover, soft and focus shades from it, so pick a fairly dark color for readable button labels.
Text color #111827 The body text color inside storefront components.
Surface color #ffffff The background for cards, panels and form fields.
Page background #f6f7f9 The background behind full-page areas such as checkout and the account area.
Border color #e5e7eb Borders and dividers. The stronger border on form controls is derived from it.
Success color #15803d The accent for success notices and badges. Its tinted background is derived.
Error color #b91c1c The accent for error notices and badges. Its tinted background is derived.
Corner radius Default How rounded the corners of buttons, inputs and cards are: Default, Small or Large.
Font family The built-in system font A CSS font-family list for every storefront component, for example Inter, Arial, sans-serif.

Emails tab

Setting Default What it does
From name Your site title The sender name on store emails.
From address Your site's admin email address The sender address on store emails.
Send purchase receipts On Emails buyers a receipt with their downloads and license keys after a completed purchase.
Send license delivery emails On Emails license keys that are created after the receipt has gone out.

Transactional emails describes what each email contains and when it is sent.

Payments tab

The Payments tab has a sub-tab for each payment gateway. The free plugin has Stripe. TierMint Pro adds a PayPal sub-tab next to it. When only one gateway is present, the sub-tab bar is hidden and its settings show directly.

Setting What it does
Stripe mode Test (the default) or Live. Test mode uses your test keys and charges nothing real. Checkout uses only the keys for the mode you pick.
Test publishable key, Live publishable key Your Stripe publishable keys. They start with pk_test_ and pk_live_. They are not secret and show as plain text.
Test secret key, Live secret key Your Stripe secret keys. They start with sk_test_ or rk_test_, and sk_live_ or rk_live_. Stored encrypted.
Test webhook signing secret, Live webhook signing secret The signing secrets from your Stripe webhook endpoints. They start with whsec_. Stored encrypted.

The test keys sit in a Test mode group and the live keys in a Live mode group. Stripe payments explains where to find each value in your Stripe Dashboard and how to set up the Stripe webhook.

The Stripe test mode keys: the publishable key and two saved secrets shown masked, each with a Clear button

How saved secrets are shown

The four secret settings (the two secret keys and the two webhook signing secrets) never show their saved value again:

  • An empty secret looks like any other empty text field.
  • A saved secret shows a placeholder of three dots. When the secret is longer than 8 characters, the placeholder also shows its last four characters. Its label ends in "(enter a new value to replace)", and a Clear button sits under it.
  • Type a new value to replace the saved secret when you save.
  • Click Clear to remove the secret when you save. A warning says the secret will be removed, with an Undo link to change your mind before you save.
  • A secret you do not touch stays as it is. Saving other settings never resends, clears or encrypts it again.

The server never sends a saved secret back to the browser. The masked placeholder is all that anyone with settings access sees.

Discounts tab

The Discounts tab has two settings: Codes and automatic discounts and Show the original price struck through. Discount settings explains both.

Webhooks tab

The Webhooks tab lists the outbound webhook endpoints your store notifies, and lets you add, switch off and delete them. Webhooks covers the events, the payload, signature checks and the retry schedule.

Each row in the endpoint table shows:

Column What it shows
URL The address TierMint sends events to.
Events How many events the endpoint receives.
Active A switch. Turn it off to stop deliveries to the endpoint. Turn it on to resume them, which also clears a Failing badge.
Status A Failing badge when every retry to the endpoint failed. TierMint then stops sending to it and switches Active off.
Actions Delete. Click it, then Confirm delete, or Cancel to keep the endpoint. Deleting removes the endpoint and its signing secret for good.

Add an endpoint

  1. Click Add endpoint.
  2. Enter the Endpoint URL. It must be an http or https address.
  3. Tick at least one event under Events.
  4. Click Create endpoint.
  5. Copy the signing secret from the Endpoint created window. Click Copy secret, or select the text and copy it by hand if the browser blocks the clipboard.
  6. Click Done.

The signing secret shows only this once. TierMint stores it encrypted and never shows it again. If you lose it, delete the endpoint and create a new one.

Integrations tab

Setting Default What it does
Elementor widgets On Adds the TierMint widgets and dynamic tags to the Elementor editor, and the display conditions of TierMint Pro. Turn it off to remove them without deactivating Elementor. See Elementor widgets.

Common questions

I saved a new Stripe secret key, but the mask still shows the old last characters. Did the save fail?

Reload the Settings screen to check. After a successful save, the form shows the new mask without a reload. If the mask is still the old one after a reload, the save did not go through: look for an error notice at the top of the screen.

I clicked Clear on a secret by mistake. How do I undo it?

Click Undo next to the warning before you save. Nothing is removed until you click Save changes.

Why can't an editor see the Settings menu item?

The Settings screen needs the manage_tiermint_settings capability. That is separate from manage_tiermint, which covers products, orders and the rest of the store. See Who can use each screen.

An endpoint shows the Failing badge. Do I need to delete and recreate it?

No. Fix the receiving URL so it is reachable and returns a 2xx status, then turn Active back on. That clears the badge, and the endpoint gets the next event it is subscribed to. Its URL, events and signing secret stay the same.
