DrPlugin

Licences

Last updated: 28 October 2026

DrPlugin is a product brand of Virtueplanet Services LLP ("we", "us", or "our"). Our Terms of Service also apply. Where this page and the Terms differ, the Terms govern, except that the GPL controls for GPL-covered material.

1. The licence for our software

Our WordPress plugins, WooCommerce extensions, Joomla extensions, and other software are released under the GNU General Public License ("GPL"), version 2 or, at your option, any later version (GPL-2.0-or-later). The same licence applies to free and paid products.

The licence covers the whole package as we distribute it: the PHP code, JavaScript, stylesheets, images, and every other file that we wrote. A third-party file that states a different licence is under that licence instead (see section 4).

Each product includes a copy of the licence. You can also read version 2 of the GNU General Public License and version 3 on the GNU website.

2. What the GPL allows

The GPL lets you use the software on any number of sites and for any purpose. You can study how it works, change it, and share copies of the original or of your changed version.

When you share a copy, the GPL sets conditions. Among them, you must keep the copyright, licence, and no-warranty notices, include a copy of the licence, and state in each file you changed that you changed it, and when. You must also make the source code available to the people who receive the copy, and release a changed version under the GPL as well.

This is a summary. The licence text governs, and where this page and the GPL differ for GPL-covered material, the GPL controls.

3. What a paid plan adds

A paid plan pays for commercial services during its term, as our Terms of Service describe:

  • official downloads from your DrPlugin account;
  • updates through our download and update services;
  • a DrPlugin licence key for the number of sites in your plan; and
  • technical support for the product.

The number of sites in a plan limits these services. It does not limit what you can do with the software under the GPL.

Despite its name, a licence key grants no rights in the software. Those come from the GPL. The key links your sites to your plan so that they receive updates. It is personal to you or your organisation, and you must not share, sell, or publish it.

When a term ends, the copy installed on your site keeps its GPL licence and may continue to work. Official downloads, updates, licence-key services, and support stop until you renew or buy a new term. A refund can end these services for that order, as our Refund Policy describes. It does not withdraw your GPL rights in a copy that you lawfully received.

A product offered free of charge, such as ConfigPort, can be downloaded and used under the GPL without a paid plan.

4. Third-party components

A product can include libraries or other components written by others. Each component keeps its own copyright notice and its own open-source licence, which is compatible with the GPL.

Where a component is licensed under version 3 of the GPL, a package that includes it can be shared as a whole only under version 3 or a later version.

5. Copyright

Copyright in the original DrPlugin code and our other original works stays with Virtueplanet Services LLP. The GPL gives you permissions under that copyright. It does not make you the owner of it.

6. What the GPL does not cover

The GPL is a copyright licence. It gives no rights in the DrPlugin name, logo, visual identity, or product names, even where a file in a package shows them.

It also does not cover the text, images, and other material on drplugin.com, such as the documentation and blog posts. Virtueplanet Services LLP or its licensors own this material, and we do not authorise its redistribution.

Code examples in the documentation, and software files that you download from drplugin.com (such as the TierMint update client), are software. Section 1 applies to them, so they are under GPL-2.0-or-later.

7. Sharing a copy or a changed version

You may share a copy of our software, or a version you have changed, under the terms of the GPL. You are responsible for meeting those terms. The GPL does not give you the right to:

  • use a DrPlugin account or licence key that belongs to someone else;
  • say that we provide downloads, updates, support, or a warranty for your copy;
  • present your copy as an official, approved, supported, or current DrPlugin release;
  • use the DrPlugin name, logo, or product branding as the brand of your own product or service; or
  • suggest that we sponsor, endorse, or are responsible for your copy.

You may make a truthful, limited reference to a DrPlugin product where the law permits. Do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests origin, affiliation, sponsorship, certification, or endorsement.

8. Joomla, WordPress, and WooCommerce trademarks

This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Joomla! Project. It is not supported or warranted by the Joomla! Project or Open Source Matters, Inc. The Joomla! name and logo are used under a limited license granted by Open Source Matters, Inc., the trademark holder in the United States and other countries.

WordPress and the WordPress logos are trademarks of the WordPress Foundation. DrPlugin and Virtueplanet Services LLP are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the WordPress Foundation, WordPress.org, Automattic Inc., or the WordPress open-source project.

WooCommerce and its associated designs are trademarks of Automattic Inc. DrPlugin products described as compatible with WooCommerce are independently developed and are not endorsed or supported by Automattic Inc. or WooCommerce.
