Supported versions
Updated October 26, 2026
One package installs on every supported Joomla version. There is no separate build for Joomla 3.
Requirements
- Joomla 3.10, 4.4, 5.4 or 6. On Joomla 6, ConfigPort does not need the Backward Compatibility 6 plugin.
- PHP 7.4 or later, within what your Joomla version supports: Joomla 5.4 needs PHP 8.1 or later, Joomla 6 needs PHP 8.3 or later.
- A MySQL or MariaDB database.
The installer refuses Joomla before 3.10, PHP before 7.4 and any other database, such as PostgreSQL, with a message.
Tested versions
ConfigPort 1.0 is tested on these sites:
| Joomla | PHP | Database |
|---|---|---|
| 3.10.11 | 7.4 | MySQL 8.0 |
| 3.10.12 | 8.0 | MySQL 8.0 |
| 4.4.13 | 8.2 | MariaDB 10.4 |
| 4.4.14 | 8.1 | MySQL 8.0 |
| 5.4.7 | 8.2 | MariaDB 10.4 |
| 5.4.9 | 8.3 | MySQL 8.0 |
| 6.2.0 | 8.3 and 8.4 | MySQL 8.0 |
Every test on Joomla 6 runs with the Backward Compatibility 6 plugin disabled. Every screen is tested in Chromium, with JavaScript on and with JavaScript off.
Moving settings between Joomla versions
| File from → import into | Joomla 3 | Joomla 4 | Joomla 5 | Joomla 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Joomla 3 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Joomla 4 | Preview only | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Joomla 5 | Preview only | Preview only | Yes | Yes |
| Joomla 6 | Preview only | Preview only | Preview only | Yes |
Each Yes is tested: export, preview, import and restore. A file from a newer Joomla major version can be previewed, not imported. See Importing older Joomla exports.
Not tested
- Joomla 4.4 on PHP 7.4.
- PHP 8.5 or later.
- Joomla 6 releases after 6.2.0, and Joomla 6 with the Backward Compatibility 6 plugin enabled.
- Joomla 7.
- MariaDB versions other than 10.4, and MySQL versions other than 8.0.
Languages
ConfigPort 1.0 ships in English (en-GB).
